In managing editor’s
post, oversaw the editing and placement of local news feeds for various AOL
products, including AOL Digital City/AOL Local, and supervised eight contract
employees. In senior editor's post, edited news articles, built video packages
and edited the news Welcome screen.
6/99 – 6/01: Senior editor of politics section, CNN.com, Washington.
Lead editor of political section of CNN.com during 2000 election season.
Supervised staff of as many as nine; planned daily political news coverage and
helped plan special projects, including CNN.com's
coverage of the 2000 primaries, political conventions, election and the 2001 presidential
inauguration. Helped coordinate video and cross-media packages with CNN
broadcast units. Site Awards: "Webby" nominations for best
political or law site in 2000 and 2001 from the International Academy of
Digital Arts and Sciences, and a "Webby People's Voice" award in the
same category in 2001. Site was placed on numerous major "Best of the
Web" lists during my tenure.
3/95 – 6/99: Managing editor of online ventures/senior editor of CQ Daily
Monitor, Congressional Quarterly Inc. Washington.
Served as managing editor of online ventures from 3/95-1/99
and senior editor of CQ Daily Monitor from 1/99-6/99. In online ventures
position, worked closely with editorial, marketing and technical staffers to build, launch and edit new products. Sites developed, edited
or assisted in development included CQ American Voter, CQ Politics for Pros, CQ
Monitor on the Web and CQ Washington Alert for the Web. In senior editor's
position, helped in the online transition of CQ Daily Monitor daily newsletter,
then served in a daily editing capacity and oversaw staff of four. Site
Awards: Best consumer Web site, Interactive Industry Association, 1996;
best non-print magazine, "Ozzie" awards for magazine design, 1998.
11/90 – 3/95: Washington bureau chief/White House reporter, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Washington.
Bureau chief and White House reporter for largest newspaper in former President
Clinton's home state. Served as newspaper's lead reporter for the 1992
presidential campaign, traveling more than 100,000 miles with then-Gov. Bill Clinton. Supervised two staffers.

No. 2 editor of four weekly zoned editions for Memphis’ dominant newspaper. Helped supervise staff of eight.

Other Skills:
Strong online and computer skills. I have been online since 1982 and have
overseen numerous websites and computer bulletin boards. I opened my first
CompuServe account and operated my first online "bulletin board" in
1983, then opened my first Internet account in 1991. Have good basic knowledge
of HTML and most widely used commercial software packages. Very familiar with
computer hardware; build my own computers from parts. Also have strong
knowledge of emerging technologies and consumer electronics.
